Peter Teakle Wines is the jewel in the crown of the fledgling wine industry in the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, which is changing Port Lincoln into a destination for wine and food lovers. It is a combination of award-winning wine, amazing views of the coastline and world-class cuisine in a single memorable experience.
The Vision of Peter Teakle Wines.
This was an innovative winery that was established in 2016 by a forward-thinking entrepreneur, Peter Teakl, based on the notion that great products demand the best produce, people, and passion to make them great. The Eyre Peninsula maritime climate has a distinctive potential for unique wines, which was realised by Peter, who made his fortune from the family wine label printing business Collotype Labels.
After the death of Peter in 2024, his son Ben Teakle carries on with the family legacy as the Managing Director, and as such, the foundation that was the goal of the founder, to make Port Lincoln a leading food and wine destination, is not lost.
Why is Peter Teakle Wines unique?
Maritime Terroir Excellence.
The 12 hectares of carefully tended vineyards enjoy the unique terroir of the Southern Eyre Peninsula. Breezes blowing off the ocean waters, the moderate summer temperatures, and the soils made of limestone provide the perfect environment in which wines can be produced with the greatest purity, freshness, and complexity.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Peter Teakle Wines also boasts of the first multi-million dollar 100 tonne crushing plant in the Eyre Peninsula, which guarantees that harvested fruit is in excellent condition up to the bottle. This quality is managed with the help of the famous chief winemaker, Elizabeth Heidenreich, and she has been working in the world-famous wineries in Australia, including Wirra Wirra, Wolf Blass and Sevenhill.
The Cellar Door Iconic Experience.
Award-Winning Architecture
The cellar door, which is a barrel-like shape, was opened in December 2020 and has become an immediate landmark in Port Lincoln. This architectural masterpiece, which is intended to look like three wine barrels placed in the vineyard, won the award for Best Building Excellence at the 2021 Master Builders SA Awards.
